Video Marketing vs Article Marketing: A Review of “Video Creation Mastery”
Using video in Internet marketing has become more popular over the last year.
And it’s no wonder. There is a compelling reason why.
Let’s just take a moment to compare video marketing with article marketing. I think you will quickly see the benefits of using videos — and you might be surprised why.
This quick eight minute video does a comparison that reveals some facts all article marketers need to know! (the audio will begin after 9 seconds):

Are you like me? I must admit I am somewhat challenged technically. The idea of making videos is rather scary.
But thanks to the Video Creation Mastery site, hosted by Mark Thompson, I am finding it is not as intimidating as I once feared. I am learning quickly.
Now, remember, I said learning.
Being aware of the need to use video, I have looked at a number of sites and programs.
One of the prominent programs that was recently promoted cost $2,000!
I passed on that one.
Other sites I looked at wanted me to join a monthly membership program. They generally will set you back $67 to $99 per month.
One I looked at only provided a new lesson every five days. Four or five days — something like that. So it would cost, I believe, $67 each month for 6 new lessons. In a whole month.
I may be a slow learner — but I’m not that slow.
When Mark Thompson introduced his program, Video Creation Mastery, I knew I had to give it a look.
I have known Mark for about two years now. Actually, I can’t say I know him face-to-face — but I have
dealt with him personally on-line numerous times, have been involved in a number of his projects, and I speak with him in the WordPress Gold Mine Forum regularly.
I think Mark is one of maybe three or four people in this industry that I really trust and respect.
Anyway, I was aware that Mark has been using video for the last year, or more. In fact, his videos have taught me a great deal about how to perform my Internet Marketing successfully.
So I joined VCM and I am discovering that it really is fairly simple to make videos.
Mark creates a new video every day. Each video is between five and fifteen minutes and shows a different program, technique, etc.
Here are some of the subjects:
- Video 1: Introduction to Video Creation
- Video 3: Screen Capture Video
- Video 4: Screen Capture Editing
- Video 6: Picture Videos
- Video 10: Using Voiceovers
- Video 13: Five Minute Product Reviews
- Video 26: Editing Out Mistakes
(You can see the list of all the different subjects by visiting here: List of Video Training Subjects)
A really cool feature for members: You can request Mark do a video on any subject (video related) and he will do it!
So, let’s say you would like to know how to put a video on your Facebook page, or how to create a video for a particular campaign (maybe you are selling boots, or sailboats, or perfume) — all you have to do is ask.
I find Mark a particularly good teacher. His explanations are simple and he recognizes the need to explain technical things — but quite frankly, there are not too many.
Mark lives in Spain, but speaks with a British accent. He is easy to understand (he narrated the video, above). I like the idea that I am being taught by an active day-to-day marketer. He teaches the techniques he actually uses, which is quite refreshing.
Another thing I liked about the site: There are not a lot of links trying to make upsells. In fact, I have not noticed a single affiliate link in the whole program, so far. Even though he speaks about using Camtasia (which is a $300 product) — he doesn’t have his own affiliate links to Camtasia. I think that is pretty amazing.
If there is one down side to VCM is that it took me a few days to learn how to navigate around the site.
The videos are listed in the right sidebar, but they are are listed bottom to top, which I find a little disconcerting.
Maybe I am dyslexic (you know the old joke about the dyslexic agnostic who isn’t sure if he believes in dog) — maybe that is my problem.
But I have become used to navigating around now, and it feels quite comfortable.
Also, when you join you will probably feel a little overwhelmed by all the material. The program opened in August, 2010, and with a new video being added every day — well, you can see how these tend to add up.
There is a lot of information to digest.
All of the videos, by the way, are hosted on the site. You cannot download them, but they are available to watch 24/7. And since you only pay a one time fee for lifetime membership, they will be there for you anytime you want.
Anyway, if you think using video will help to increase your sales, you might want to take a look.
I don’t think you will find a better teacher than Mark.
When you go to check out the site, you will find that Mark has done an interesting thing. Instead linking to a sales page, the link will put you right into the site, and you can look around.
Now, be forewarned: When you try to “drill down” into one of the courses, you will be blocked until you purchase a membership — which is a one time fee of $67 — not a monthly membership (although that may be coming.)
If you join now, Mark promises that when it becomes a monthly membership site, you will be grandfathered in and will be paid for life.
I talk too much.
Here, take a look around.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do:
